I’m taking on a simple challenge for the month of August: slowing down, paying attention, and looking for the moments where God is working around me.
Because the truth is… I think we miss so much. The answered prayers, the little reminders, the unexpected blessings, the moments that seem ordinary but are actually evidence of a God who is present.
For the next 31 days, I’ll be sharing Where I Saw God today…so come back to THIS blog post daily and see!!
I’d love for you to join me. ❤️
Whether you start on day one or join us later, my prayer is that by the end of August we’ll realize God has been working around us far more than we ever noticed. Drop yours in the comments anytime this month — big moments, little moments, anything where you saw God showing up.
Let’s encourage each other! Share this with someone who might need the reminder to slow down and look for Him. 🙌
August 1-
Today is Day 1 of my #WhereISawGodToday challenge.
Mine came early today! I woke up to the song You Are Worthy Of It All playing over and over in my head. Before I even opened my eyes or realized I was waking up I was worshipping God.
“You are worthy of it all
You are worthy of it all
For from You are all things
And to You are all things
You deserve the glory”
Romans 8:26–27:
“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.” (ESV)
Where did you see God today?
August 2-
Day 2 of my #WhereISawGodToday challenge.
Vulnerable confession…
I didn’t.
Don’t get me wrong—God was everywhere in my day. I’m confident of that.
It was me.
If this blog gives the impression that I have it all together, let me set the record straight: I don’t.
I struggle more often than I want to admit, and usually it’s by my own doing. I have more flaws than I can count. Life throws curveballs that I seem to miss over and over, and instead of handling them well, I let anger, bitterness, resentment, fear, anxiety, the need for control, and sadness take up more space in my heart than they should.
That’s where I landed this weekend.
I piled all that baggage around me so high that I couldn’t see over it. I couldn’t see God on the other side. And instead of asking Him to help me clear it away, I just sat in its shadow.
Is God mad at me for that? No. Absolutely not.
I’m sure there have been moments where He’s thought, “Child… just let Me help you.” Not because He’s disappointed in me, but because He wants me to experience His presence even on the hard days. But I have to choose to look for Him.
This weekend… I didn’t.
So if this challenge feels like it’s for people who have it all together… people with a perfect relationship with God… or people who think seeing Him is some kind of reward for getting everything right… it isn’t.
It’s for people like me.
People who lose sight of Him sometimes.
People who get buried under life.
People who forget to look.
Because here’s what I’ve learned: whether you’re intentionally looking for God or you’ve realized you’ve stopped looking altogether, He’s still there. He hasn’t moved.
Sometimes the hardest part is getting over ourselves long enough to ask Him to remove whatever is blocking our view. And maybe asking for a little forgiveness too.
The beautiful thing is… He always does.

August 3-
Day 3 of my #WhereISawGodToday challenge.
First, I need to make an addendum to Day 2.
Admitting that I had struggled allowed God to show me something I had missed.
I always keep my work phone nearby so I can check it throughout the day. But the battery had died on Friday, and I never charged it. Yesterday evening, at the moment I felt the most defeated, I turned my phone on and found the most encouraging text from a patient.

She had sent it Friday… but God saved it for the exact moment I needed it most.
And even though that text lifted my spirits, I didn’t immediately connect it to God. I almost missed it.
So maybe I didn’t miss yesterday after all. Maybe God was holding onto that little reminder until I was ready to see it clearly.
Yesterday’s post was an encouragement to myself more than anything. I needed to admit where I struggled so I could shake it off and move forward.
But I definitely didn’t wake up feeling “fresh.”
I was tired, unshowered, late to my first patient because of a train that wasn’t moving, and had a headache. Let’s just say… I was crabby and a little teary. 😂 (while eating a hot dog, two glazed donuts and a Red Bull for breakfast).
At 9:00, I literally prayed, “God, I could really use a dragonfly right now.”
Then, because apparently I still like to overthink things, I immediately followed it with, “But I don’t want to wear out that ask, so I probably shouldn’t ask for that…”
(See the lack of faith there? I was already trying to control the outcome so I wouldn’t be disappointed.)
But in true God fashion, at 10:15, as I was walking up my next patient’s driveway, a dragonfly flew right over my head.
And if God had my sense of humor, I feel like I could hear Him playfully say, “You’re so annoying.” 😂
He wouldn’t be wrong.
On my way to my next patient, a truck ran a red light. But before that happened, I had already felt myself hesitate before putting my foot on the gas.
A small moment. A quiet nudge. A reminder that I am never outside of His care.
Then around 11:15, I started praying for my parents. They had been in a wreck the week before, and we really needed the insurance adjuster to total their vehicle.
At 12:20, I got a text from Dad.
One word:
“Totaled.”
In a span of about four hours, I had four very clear moments where I saw God.
The first was realizing I hadn’t missed Him yesterday.
The second was the dragonfly — a reminder that He is working things out.
The third was His protection when I hesitated.
The fourth was an answered prayer.
Maybe the biggest challenge is slowing down long enough to notice Him.
So today I want to invite you into this with me — not necessarily by posting a big story, but just by paying attention.
Where did you see God today?
Maybe it was something huge. Maybe it was something so small you almost missed it.
And if you know someone who needs a reminder to look for Him in the middle of ordinary life, invite them to join us for #WhereISawGodToday.
You never know… the thing they almost overlook might be the very thing God is using to remind them He is near.
August 4-
Day 4 of my #WhereISawGodToday challenge.
Today just felt… lighter.
No chaos. No unnecessary stress.
I didn’t realize how much I needed that.
That’s God.
How was your day?
August 5-
Day 5 of my #WhereISawGodToday challenge.
Today, God showed up through laughter.
Goats make me laugh 😆
“A cheerful heart is good medicine.” — Proverbs 17:22

What makes you laugh?
August 6-
Day 6 of my #WhereISawGodToday challenge.
Today, dragonflies followed me around…which is always one of my special reminders from God.
Then came an immediate answered prayer.
I’m part of the prophetic prayer team for Crossroads Anywhere, and tonight was our online prayer night.
I’ve noticed a pattern: every single prayer night, something seems to happen that tries to steal my focus and make me question whether God can really use me. Every. Single. Time.
I thought I was in the clear today, but right before I needed to sign on… bam. It hit.
But as always, God was faithful.
He met me right in the middle of it, reminded me who He is, and reminded me that my circumstances don’t determine whether He can work through me.
Tonight, my prayer partner, the rest of the team, and I had the privilege of praying for more than 70 people.
The enemy may try to distract us, but God is always greater.
August 7-
Day 7 of my #WhereISawGodToday challenge.
I feel tired today.
It would have been easy to just write this tomorrow. But then I realized something…
How many things was I okay doing today? How long did I spend playing on my phone, mindlessly scrolling through social media?
But when it came time to spend a few minutes recognizing where I saw God today, suddenly I was too tired?
Not good, Kel. 😂
And honestly, that realization was probably the biggest way I felt Him today.
Relationships require priority.
And today, I realized I wasn’t doing my share.
So thank You, God, for letting me see You today.
Thank You that an unexpected change in my work schedule allowed me to get my son’s medicine.
Thank You for the answered prayer that insurance covered the loan after the wreck.
Thank You for a smooth work day.
Thank You for the smile on my son’s face tonight as he spent time with a friend who has become more like a brother.
Thank You for a little mini date night with my husband while the boys ditched us. 😂
You were everywhere today.
Not in some huge, dramatic, unmistakable way.
You were just in my day-to-day.
And maybe that’s the point.
Sometimes seeing God isn’t about looking for something extraordinary.
Sometimes it’s simply slowing down long enough to realize He was there all along. ❤️
