Hello! I’m glad you’re here. 🙂
If you read my title page, you’d know that this blog is four years in the making. That being the case, you’d think I would have a plan. The perfect catchphrase. The perfect first story that would immediately draw you in. But in reality, if this blog is about me and my story, then there is nothing perfect about it. The only “perfect” in my story is the One who called me to write it in the first place. The rest is just me. Me, who felt God calling me to write and, in the most imperfect way, didn’t do it.
Now would be the perfect time to insert the emoji of a woman shrugging her hands up in the air. That shrug that says, “I have nothing.” That shrug that actually speaks to a little shame and embarrassment. Maybe even a little bit of nervousness. It’s an uncomfortable feeling to admit to myself, to you, and to God that four years have gone by since He placed this on my heart, and I am just now doing it. I feel vulnerable and exposed. The writing isn’t the hard part. Asking forgiveness is.
So God, in this moment, I pause and look to You only. I’m sorry. I’m sorry for not being here sooner. I’m sorry that when I clearly heard Your voice and Your prompting, I didn’t immediately act. I ask that You don’t let those years be wasted. That the purpose You had for me then, You will still have for me now. Let my words be Your words. Use them…use me. I’m sorry it took me so long to get here.
So here it is.
Day one.
Blog one.
God is present in every aspect of my life.
There it is. If you want to know what this blog is about—what you’d be subscribing to—it’s that God is present here. In the mildly unorganized chaos, God is present. And I can’t wait to share it with you.
I have an entire lifetime of content that would prove that statement. Stories I could tell you from as far back as childhood. But the last seven years have been the most defining in my walk with God, and that’s what you’ll find woven throughout these pages because they shaped my present and my future. They changed my vision and created a new lens that allows me to see God in every day and every circumstance of my life. My prayer is that, as you hear my stories and how I’ve learned to see God, you’ll begin to see Him in your own life too.
In my head, I thought God would have me start at the beginning. There was one defining season in my life that left me so broken that only God could fix it. And since that time, I have story after story of God showing up. But writing only that part of my story would have a beginning and an end. That puts God in too small of a box. God isn’t with me only in difficult seasons. Yes, that time shaped me in ways I never expected. It created the present me. But that is only one part of my story because, when I’m looking for Him, I realize that every day has a chapter.
And so this needs to start in the present.
With the perfect title: “Play Ball.”
